September Finds the Boomers On the Road, Reminiscing and Working

From Florida’s sizzling sun and balmy sea over Labor Day Weekend to the leafy green mountains along the Hudson River north of New York City, my September has been one of short travels and –

Covid. Caught most likely in the Sunshine State while mingling with plane passengers, family, and strangers at a series of festive events. The bug I avoided for three years finally found me.

My fellow boomers have been busy while I recuperated. As I relaxed at home I realized the importance of helping myself heal…

Are you getting enough of your Omega-3s? Rebecca Olkowski, with BabyBoomster.com tries out several ways you can get it to aid in preventing heart disease as well as other ailments. We all need it. Read about it here.

I was not the only boomer on the road recently –

A shocking discovery awaited Carol Cassara and her husband when they traveled from California to their second home in western NY. After weeks of rain, mold had invaded their basement and the little gym they’d set up. What happened? Read about it and the even greater lesson in her post, “Unexpected Consequences of Benign Neglect.”

When on the road, and when at home, it’s a good idea to know how inflation affects your pocketbook –

How is inflation affecting you? Inflation is higher in some cities than others, reports Rita R. Robison, consumer and personal finance journalist. Miami, Denver, and Atlanta are the highest on one list while Chicago, Boston, and Washington, D.C. are the lowest. Check out Robison’s article, “Do You Live in a High Inflation Area?”, to see where your city ranks.

This time of year the outdoors beckon –

The other day Laurie found a raptor standing on her deck. Before writing this post, she googled whether it was a hawk or falcon and it’s a red-tailed hawk—both beautiful and fierce. Outside, she imagined the warning cries of jays and cardinals.

Ever think about whether a vision board is worth it? Jennifer, of Unfold and Begin, discusses their true worth and in Unraveling the True Worth of Vision Boards, she also shares alternate terms people use because some see “vision board” as just another fad.

For a good chuckle and recollection, check out Diane Tolley’s post –

Newly married. That period of time in which two people suddenly discover that the bodily functions they have been denying throughout their dating and courtship days actually exist. It’s a time of…adjustment.

Thank you for stopping by the boomers, and please let them know you enjoyed their posts.

Goodbye from a ‘friend’ found on my wanderings along the sophisticated streets of Ft Lauderdale, Florida.
