Halloween marks the unofficial end of the autumn season in my world. Outside peak colors fade rapidly. Leaves shrivel, die, and fall onto my yard and sidewalk, waiting to be raked and removed. Trees appear barren. Colder weather sneaks in. Next weekend we turn back the clocks, and darkness will descend early evening. By late afternoon it will feel like nighttime, and I will want to curl up and become a couch potato. But before the season ends, I visited my Vermont family. We walked through a haunted park and a haunted barn, and prepared for a week of Halloween festivities.
I was not the only boomer enjoying the holiday season.
Rebecca Olkowski, with BabyBoomster.com wanted to get some pumpkin action during October so she took a drive to Underwood Family Farms in Ventura. It’s a sustainable farm that provides food to many of the farmer’s markets in Los Angeles. In October it hosts a Fall Harvest Festival to entertain kids and adults with plenty of farm animals.
Cars can be spooky. At least Laurie’s was, parked in her garage one strange October night. This time of year, it’s easy to picture witches and goblins flying by the window or tapping you on the shoulder, but being unnerved by your automobile?
Not all of us were distracted by the holiday season.

Don’t fall for past precious metal schemes targeting seniors, advises Rita R. Robison, consumer and personal finance journalist. You could suffer substantial losses on your retirement investments.
Thank you for spending a few minutes of your time to check out the Boomers. Let them know you stopped by! And enjoy the final days of a beautiful, vibrant, picturesque season.
Greetings from Vermont
