My Florida family traded the mid-summer oppressive heat and humidity of their home state for two weeks at the Jersey shore. This year they decided not to squeeze into my house – spacious enough for hub and me, but far from roomy for a family of five, including three teenagers, and visiting friends. They rented a house a couple of blocks away, and everyone is happy! But they waited too long to decide if and when they were coming, so available rentals were few and more expensive than anticipated. However they chose a large house with parking (a much-desired but hard-to-find island amenity) and have settled in. But a fellow boomer was not so lucky, and their chosen vacation home was booked. Let’s face it, we only get so many summers in our lives. And there’s always a certain pressure to make each one count. Usually, Laurie’s family goes to the same Cape Cod house each year, but this time, their place was no longer available. They weren’t quick enough to find another in time… so, they’re staying home. See Robison’s article for tips on how to stay safe in parking lots.
Coincidences occur, and I experienced the same issue another blogger encountered this week.
Have you ever been ghosted by a good friend? That’s the subject this week on Carol Cassara’s blog, when she writes about her feelings at the loss of what she thought was a dear friend in Just Walk Away Renee.
Did you successfully achieve your fitness goals before summer arrived? Me neither…
Are you trying to stay fit with no results? You may be trying too hard. Rebecca Olkowski, with BabyBoomster.com interviewed author, fitness trainer, and health and wellness coach D.D. Forrest about adjustments we can make for optimal health as we age.
Boomer Beth Havey writes about the places we live…
There are some writers whose work is definitely associated with PLACE, where they live, and what inspires them. Joan Didion is one of those writers….but maybe I am too.
Thank you for stopping by the Boomers and enjoy a laid-back summer week.
