Mid-winter Musings on Aging, Getaways Forced and Planned, and more

Balmy weather greets me each morning as I venture outside my temporary residence in the resort town of Ajijic, Mexico. Each day begins cool, then warms to mid-70s sunny skies. My first post on my senior-style vacay is here.

Glad to escape the frigid landscape back home, I do not look forward to donning sweaters, jackets, and warm socks once again. On the other hand, I do miss my home and family. But I feel very lucky to be on a chosen vacation, as opposed to the forced evacuation of fellow blogger Rebecca.

Again this week, Rebecca Olkowski, with BabyBoomster.com is taking time to get adjusted to being displaced by the Los Angeles fires in Altadena, California. FEMA has been terrific so far. Still, it’s unnerving to uproot yourself at a moment’s notice and not be able to do much until the mess is cleaned up and repairs are made. She writes about her experience here.
